Hi guys! For today's outfit, I went for a minimal, classic look with pieces I pull from my closet on the regular. Also, please note the matching Gucci scarf headband and bag! outfit details: Vince Camuto dress [new, $30], Banana Republic heels [new, $20], Gucci scarf/headband [new, gift], Gucci bag [secondhand, hand me down] I've decided to start linking similar items so that you can see the kind of deals I have found. Click the items above to see the full price. I love this gorgeous red Vince Camuto dress because I can wear it nearly everywhere. It is just the right length to be professional with a blazer, but with a sassy bag and pair of high heels I can go dancing in Hollywood. *cue sassy red dress dancer emoji* I found this dress at Nordstrom Rack, in the clearance section! As you saw above, a dress similar to this is retailing at $100 at Nordstrom. Total score! This gorgeous Gucci bag is vintage, and was handed down to me from the most fabulous great aunt. She bought it in Italy during the 80s (it's older than me!), and I cherish this bag with my life. My headband is actually a scarf, and super versatile! (In this post you can see it tied around my bag.) I had been wanting a silk designer scarf, but couldn't seem to find one secondhand in good condition that I loved. I put it on my birthday wish list, and voila! My mom gave this is to me, and I instantly fell in love with it. As it was a gift, I don't know what she paid for it. But I believe she bought it from a Gucci outlet store. Total fancy find! These heels are a total wardrobe staple, as they look great with pretty much any outfit. I got a killer deal on these with a Banana Republic sale and my BR credit card reward points. Store credit cards CAN be a great thing, as long as you have a little self restraint and are able to pay the balance every month. (ie don't go cray!) I would like to give total photo cred to the hubby, what a catch! Thank you for reading everyone, and remember, live fancy! xoxo Sydney

The population comes in at just 2500 people, and the atmosphere exudes the feels of a familiar small town (think Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls). Homes are small and old, and chopped firewood lines almost every yard. The forecast was only a high of 60 degrees, so I put together pieces I haven't been able to wear in California for months. Yay! outfit details: Banana Republic toggle jacket [new, $40], Ann Taylor button up [new, $20], Nordstrom faux fur vest [new, $20], Banana Republic jeans [new, $40], Hunter boots [new, $80], Michael Kors watch [new, $100], Tiffany & Co necklace [new, gift] Naturally my adventure started with carbs... I gave Zudy's Cafe, an adorable waterfront bistro, a try. The turkey panini was delicious, and the mystery mayo sauce on the side was satisfyingly naughty. I may have even dipped my chips in it... After lunch (desperately needing some exercise), I began my adventure on a path following the shoreline. Returning to the hotel because of the rain, I decided to walk back a different way, and found a route down a residential street. There didn't seem to be a home or building built in the last 50 years. Passerby cars were scarce, and everyone in their yard waved hello. It almost seemed I had gone back in time, to an old way of life. I loved the juxtaposition of the beautiful, green background and the older, rundown town. It was a breath of fresh air (literally!) from the never ending energy of LA. What a sweet retreat! xoxo Sydney Our first day in Alaska is officially in the books! We flew into Anchorage late Friday night and slept in a tad, so we didn't get our day officially started until noon. We decided to explore downtown Anchorage, which was a sweet, slow, older area right on the water. outfit details: H&M shirt dress [new, $15], Banana Republic tights [new, $3], Hunter boots [new, $80], Kenneth Cole jacket [new, $90], Burberry scarf [secondhand, $80], Gucci bag [secondhand, hand me down], Gucci scarf (on bag) [new, gift], Rayban wayfarers [new, $90], Tiffany & Co heart studs [new, gift] ...do you mean a bus? We had lunch at a cute little spot in downtown called Brown Bag Sandwich Co. It was delicious! Feel free to drool over the following foodie pic. After our lunch, we started our 2.5 hour drive to Seward, a small waterfront town south of Anchorage. The drive was green and gorgeous! Can you spot the Sydney cameo? ;) Once we made it to Seward, we decided to enjoy a 3 hour dinner cruise of the nature, wildlife, and views off the coast of Alaska. We were not disappointed! The water was a beautiful blue/grey, the weather was bright and crisp, and we had the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, including whales, puffins, seals, bald eagles, and mountain goats! Our ship! Whales! Windy hair, and I did care. Overall, our first day in Alaska was a dream. Today is a bit slower, as the hubby actually has to do work today. le sigh. But you can expect more photos of this quaint little waterfront Alaskan town as I do a bit more exploring on my own today. And if you have any suggestions of what to see and do, please leave a comment below! xoxo Sydney *drum roll please...* I'm writing this from Alaska! If you read my last post, you will know that Alaska is one of the states I have never been to, and definitely at the top of the adventure list! Well, thanks to a last minute work trip for the hubby, I was able to hop on a plane yesterday evening and live out a dream! The past few days have been a tad chaotic trying to prepare everything to make this trip possible (our doggy Schnitzel, last minute tickets, finding a rental car), but we are here and it is gloriously green (and a bit chilly). While packing, I glanced through the weather forecast, and I was actually excited to see rain and cooler temps. More cute clothes to wear! I opted for this layered look yesterday for the airport and plane ride, as California has definitely hit its summer stride in regards to temperature: outfit details: Banana Republic jacket [new, $40], Banana Republic top [new, free], Lululemon leggings [new, $90], Gucci flats [new, $230], Rayban aviators [new, $90], Tiffany & Co. necklace [new, gift], Gucci bag [secondhand, hand me down], Gucci scarf [new, gift] We try to avoid flying out of LAX whenever possible, and if you have ever been through this airport, even just for a layover, you certainly know why. But because of the lack of flight options so close to our departure, we did not really have much choice. I have never been out of the Delta terminal in LAX, and was happy and surprised to find they had a lemonade restaurant there! lemonade is a delicious chain restaurant through out LA that offers a wide variety of healthy and interesting foods, and of course lemonade! We had to make a stop before our flight. roasted broccoli, a BLT avocado salad, carrot cupcake, and of course an ole fashioned lemonade! While first class was just too expensive for this flight, we opted for the comfort plus upgrade, which in total cost an extra $80 per round trip, per person. After our whole flying experience yesterday, we were so grateful we made this decision! With this upgrade came "sky priority," which offered a separate check in and our own line through security. Totally sweet! We also got to board the plane first, and had our own designated bins for our carry-ons. While we still had to make the walk of shame through first class (reclining chairs, champagne, pillows, oh my!) our seats were located right behind the curtain, and were larger and more cushioned than economy. These seats also included 5 inches more legroom, free movies and entertainment through out the flight, food, and even complimentary alcohol! We definitely partook. Overall, the flight was super comfortable, enjoyable, and we definitely agreed the extra fundage was totally worth it! As for now, we are about to embark on our first Alaskan adventure, stay tuned for more details and pictures! xoxo Sydney |
