Happy Friday!! To celebrate the most glorious day of the week, I've decided to start a new category where I share my current fave products and trends! No real structure, just what I'm feeling at the moment. 1. Urban Decay Lipstick Regularly $22 a pop, I found this Urban Decay lipstick at Nordstrom Rack for $9 and picked up two! The formula goes on so smooth, and the color is so rich and lasts for hours. If you are looking for a reliable lipstick with great colors, definitely check them out! 2. Easy Hair You've seen this braid here (Germany wedding hair), but it was so easy and I got so many compliments that I have been inspired to incorporate more lazy hairstyles. The hair pictured above was actually day 3 of a blowout, and I just didn't want to commit to the old wash and dry game just quite yet. I actually YouTube-d half dutch braid crown, and got this after one view and one try! Instructions: 1. Start with a deep part and make a typical dutch braid until you reach your ear 2. Once you reach your ear, braid the top piece as normal but add only a very small piece of hair from the bottom 3. Continue until you have braided all the way around back to the top of your head 4. Use a clear tie to end the braid and tuck the end into the beginning of the braid 5. Pin in place and you are done! I've also been experimenting with buns and braids, I mean who doesn't love a hairstyle that takes only a few minutes and is out of your way all day? 3. Trader Joe's Pumpkin Bread Mix Backstory: I was TOTALLY committed to my post-European vacation, no bread diet until we went grocery shopping the day after we returned and I saw the most drool-worthy display of Trader's Joe's pumpkin bread mix. I decided that it is technically a vegetable (right Sydney...) and bought a box. While definitely NOT a vegetable, this is the most delicious bread mix I have ever made! Totally try it. And bonus: it made my house smell completely like fall! 4. A Pop of Color If you haven't noticed, I am a creature of habit and neutral colors. Case and point, my closet: Yeah...I like black, white, and grey. To break up the monotony, I've decided to start adding more color into my wardrobe. Like these pretties below! I'm loving the tie up shoe trend (past ballerina here), and when I found these I was so in love! I bought these for $15 from Banana Republic, retail price of $120. They add a pop of pigment to any neutral ensemble. 5. Silk Scarves Banana Republic jacket [new, $40], Banana Republic sweater [new, $10], Banana Republic pants [new, $20], Gucci flats [new, gift], Gucci scarf [new, gift], Gucci bag [vintage, hand me down] If you've only glanced at this blog or my social media, you will still know how much I love to get creative with a silk scarf. In your hair, on your bag, or tied around your neck, I think this accessory can make any outfit more complete. It also adds a nice fall touch to your outfit when it is still over 80 degrees. New post coming soon on unique ways to incorporate this classic accessory!
Happy weekend!

Hello from Germany! I recently shared the newest addition to my shoe collection on Instagram (link is on the top right!) and am now very excited to share more details! I have been looking for a pair of good quality neutral heels (Choo, Louboutin, Blahnik, etc.) for a few months and had been searching through a number of second hand luxury websites because my budget was $100. Just a few weeks ago as I was perusing through eBay, I found these well maintained black, peep toe pumps with an asking price of $70 with free shipping. What! Pushing my luck, I offered $60 and the seller quickly accepted! Win for me! I was definitely skeptical at first of the price, but after asking for additional pictures from the seller (who had very good ratings) and doing my own online research I decided they must be the real deal! While they are secondhand, the scratching and wear is very minimal, and hardly noticeable even up close. They even came with the original dust bag. :D A similar pair can be seen here, retailing at nearly $600! Diane Von Furstenberg dress [secondhand, $40], Jimmy Choo pumps [secondhand, $60], Rebecca Minkoff bag [new, $60] How gorgeous is this location?! The castle is called Schloss Solitude, and is located within Stuttgart, where my husband is from. Super fairytale-esque. See more here! Ok HAD to include a pic of my hair that I was so proud of. This dutch half crown braid was the results of only watching ONE youtube video and getting it right on my very FIRST attempt! The universe was on my side that day! Thank you for reading, and I promise to share more from Germany within the next few days! Hi everyone! So if you are following me on social media (do it!!), you will know that le hubby and I have recently set off on our next adventure! Germany! I am uber excited for cold weather, Oktoberfest, and some AMAZINGGG German food. But when it comes to international travel, it is important to be prepared when stepping on the airplane. 11 hours of flight time is no joke, and if you want to start off your vacation on the cutest foot possible, there are a few essentials you should definitely be stashing on your carry-on. Below are a few of my staples! 1. Cozy wrap- Airplanes are uncomfortable as it is, make sure to bring something to keep you warm when the temperatures drop. If your destination will be cold (like Germany...), this is perfect for the post-airport trip to your hotel. 2. Vaseline Lip Therapy- Travel can be very drying on your lips! This Vaseline product is my ultimate fave. Lasts for hours and tastes yummy. :) 3. Headphones- Forgetting your headphones is like the biggest no no in travel! How will you watch all of last years B-list movies without them?! I have had my pink Beats for years, they are so cute! 4. Trader Joe's Green Tea Mints- Between airplane food and a couple hours of mouth open half sleep, your breath could probably use a pick me up. Trust. But beware, these mints are addicting. 5. Cosmetic Bags- Make sure to keep all your smaller items compartmentalized so they are easier to find. The cute Clinique bags are actually a set that was free with a $27 purchase! 6. Make-up- I prefer to board the plane sans makeup, and apply before landing. It's better for your skin, and you will look more fresh upon arriving. The Too Faced eyeshadow palette pictured above is a new fancy find! 15 shades and an eyeliner pencil for only $15! 7. Work and School projects- You are going to have a loooooot of time on the plane, so if you have deadlines and assignments coming up, this is a good time to get ish done. As a grad student, there is always a list of things I can/should be getting done at any one moment. Get it done on the plane so you don't sacrifice vacation time for it! 8. Body Spray and Lotion- Sitting for hours. Cramped spaces. Tight clothes. You get it. Smell like you didn't just roll out of a cave. I love the Bombshell fragrance from VS, and their ultimate body care lotion is super hydrating. Just in case you don't want alligator skin on your vacay. 9. Mirror- Don't be the person that hogs the bathroom for 30 minutes to apply makeup. Have one handy and apply at your seat. I have had the Chanel compact above for years. While there is no longer makeup inside, it makes a stylish mirror that fits perfect in my bag. 10. Passport- Le duh. **What I forgot to include in this picture is the large container of hand sanitizer I tote everywhere. Don't get sick before you even get to your destination!** Hope this helps, and I'm excited to share more of our European adventure with all of you very soon! |
